Pimm’s and Bourbon

We were in the mood for a Pimm’s cocktail of some sort, and the Pimm’s and Bourbon recipe was a bit of an accident, a lucky one at that. I firmly believe in tasting and smelling all of the ingredients in a recipe by themselves so that you know exactly what flavors you’re adding to a recipe. If you don’t like the flavor, then you need a really good reason to be adding it to whatever it is you’re eating or drinking.

I had purchased the Pimm’s to make the same old Pimm’s Cup recipe that has been around since the 1800s. Took a little sip on its own and was pleasantly surprised at its spicy, herbal, flowery, citrus flavor and I knew it was going to be a good cocktail mixer. The flavors really would work well with Gin, but I wasn’t in a Gin sort of mood, but I knew I wanted a Pimm’s cocktail. So Bourbon it was, and now, this is one of my favorite Bourbon cocktails. A little Bourbon, Pimm’s, lemon and simple syrup over ice is all you need, for a bright, easy to drink cocktail, a nod to my British and American heritage, I give you my favorite Pimm’s cocktail, the Pimm’s and Bourbon.
