A Mexican & A Cowboy Walk Into A Bar

January 27, 2018 By Steven 1 Comment

A Tequila and Bourbon Old Fashioned

This Tequila and Bourbon Old Fashioned Cocktail; “A Mexican & A Cowboy Walk Into A Bar” is a mixture of aged Tequila and Whiskey, and the combo doesn’t get much better than that.

It’s 5 o’clock in 3, 2, 1…

This cocktail recipe came about after we went to a swanky new Mexican joint in Dallas last week, named Jalisco Norte. They have a really cool cocktail menu, one of the signature cocktails is a $50 Margarita called ‘Keeping up with the “Jerry” Joneses’, some high dollar booze befitting the Cowboys owner, and appropriate since his estate is only a hop, skip, and jump away from the restaurant.

Well, I can’t afford the liquor needed to recreate the $50 Margarita, however, their spin on the Old Fashioned is right up my alley. A combo of Whiskey and aged Tequila make this a really excellent cocktail. I’m not sure what their actual recipe is, I was too busy drinking to get it, so this is my version.

This is how I make Jalisco Norte’s Whiskey and Tequila Old Fashioned, “A Mexican & A Cowboy Walk Into A Bar”.
