Seared Salmon Tacos

December 18, 2018 By Steven 1 Comment

This is my Seared Salmon Tacos recipe with a spicy red cabbage slaw and homemade guacamole, for Fish Taco lovers, it doesn’t get much better. The Salmon Tacos are seasoned with cumin and chipotle peppers the salmon is mildly spicy, tender, and flaky. This sits atop of my red cabbage slaw recipe that is dressed in a lime and jalapeno vinaigrette. Top the Seared Salmon and slaw with a fresh dollop of my homemade guacamole recipe and some crumbled queso fresco, and you have yourself a great Fish Taco.

Seared Salmon Fish Tacos

When I was in the US Navy, I was stationed in San Diego, California, and would go to the street vendors at the beach almost every day we were in port. The fish tacos in Southern California, Tijuana, and Baja California were breaded with cabbage slaw and a creamy sauce. I loved walking along the beach and finding these street taco vendors everywhere, seriously, some of the best tacos I ever came from were some random vendor on the sidewalk in Tijuana.

I live in Dallas, Texas no and we have a pretty good street taco scene here as well, except they don’t sell them on the sidewalks, they sell them in the gas stations. Yep, gas station tacos are a thing, and they are magnificent. Dallas is not a very pedestrian-friendly city, in the summer, it’s usually about a thousand degrees Fahrenheit, so walking anywhere is out of the question. So, since we all drive, the best place for a street vendor to sell tacos is in the gas stations. If you find yourself in Texas someday, don’t hesitate to eat the gas station tacos, they are some of the best in the world!

Health Benefits of Salmon

Many experts recommend eating two servings of fish per week. Although, I’m guessing my Pub Style Fish and Chips aren’t what they have in mind.

  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids are considered essential fat since our bodies can not create it for ourselves. Credited with lowering blood pressure, reducing inflammation, reducing the risk of cancer are among its many benefits.
  • Salmon is an excellent source of quality protein and an excellent alternative to chicken and beef.
  • High in B-vitamins, selenium, and potassium
